I know good music when I hear it. Though some of what I consider “good music” is debated by some, few could honestly argue that “Home”, by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, is not good music. It’s damn good music:
It’s a love song, but I sense a greater symbolism within it. If we examine the lyrics, it speaks of:
Traditional America: “Alabama and Arkansas.”
Love of the traditional family: “Ma and pa.”
American tradition: “Pumpkin pie and chocolate cake”
American religion: “Jesus Christ”
It speaks of the dangers white people face: :Through the jungle, through the dark.”
It refers to history and natural beauty: “Moats and boats and waterfalls.”
It appeals to redneck culture and is even sung with a Southern drawl.

Lay awake ’till break of dawn
I wonder how many fans see a deeper meaning in this. We are all working toward the “break of dawn” because we value our traditions – our “ma and pa”. We will do whatever it takes to get there – moats and boats and waterfalls.

The whole experience made me want to say, “Golly, that accordion player makes me wish I were young and single.”

Given the effective repression of pro-white sentiment, I’ve often that thought there must be some pro-white sentiment left underground somewhere. It’s interesting to listen to various songs with the intent of trying to decipher if there are any pro-white feelings in the music lying just below the level it would take to get the band blacklisted.
Songs like “Albion Autumn” come to mind.
I’ve been thinking about this song in relation to pro-white themes. I never would have made any such connection without this post, of that I’m certain.
Anyway, the line that is most poignant is definitely, “Home is wherever I’m with you.” Whites may be forced to choose to abandon their lands as they are overrun in favor of whiter pastures, or to stay behind and “drown in the ocean”. Since I consider home to be wherever there are an overwhelming number of whites, rather than a specific geographic area, I would choose the former. I’m not an Afrikaner.

You are right. I’m not criticizing the Afrikaners on their current choices. I know a lot of them can’t easily leave.
I’m criticizing the apartheid programme for being incomplete and shortsighted. If they had withdrawn all the white people and military hardware to Cape Province, and stopped selling land to non-whites and stopped renewing the leases of non-whites in that province, they would have a happy white homeland now. All that would be left in that area after a year or so would be a small number of Colored homeowners; hardly a security problem.
The disadvantages: the military would have a smaller pool to recruit from, domestic labor would be more expensive, and they would have had to abandon a lot of land and factories. Some in-migrating whites would be moving from white collar drives to broom-pushing jobs. (I’ve done it, and it’s not nearly as I imagine a necklacing would be.)
Mitigating factors: the population left for the military to recruit would be higher in average quality; there would be no chance that factories that transferred to black management would have been created anything that could compete with or hurt Cape Republic. Land prices would probably be unstable but necessarily extremely unstable.
The advantages: not having your whole ethne raped to death.
But instead they concentrated on making sure black folks didn’t use the same drinking fountains as white folks. Because, you know, white ladies are in danger drinking from those scary fountains.
If I had my druthers, we’d resettle every last white South African and ex-Rhodesian in the United States (and, to be fair, in the UK and Canada as well). In the next 12 months, preferably. We could use all the military transport aircraft that we wouldn’t need since we’d pull out of Afghanistan. I’d put up a family in my basement, until we could build them a separate dormitory structure in my back yard. I’d cut down the pear tree. Not kidding.
