WWII tombstones desecrated in Libya

Vandals have destroyed tombstones of fallen World War Two soldiers in Benghazi – and not for the first time. According to Alarabiya:

Headstones on World War II military graves in Libya’s eastern city of Benghazi have again been desecrated in the second such attack in four months, local officials said on Saturday.

“On Thursday, Christian graves were desecrated for a second time in Benghazi,” Mohammed al-Quzairi of the local security committee told AFP, adding that the identity of the assailants was unclear.

The Benghazi civilian council said it was trying to track down those responsible.

“We are cooperating with the security committee to ascertain the identity of the assailants and bring them to justice as quickly as possible,” its spokesman, Khaled al-Jazawi, said.

A similar attack hit the same military cemetery in February.

The assailants shattered headstones of British and allied servicemen who fought in North African desert campaigns against the Nazis during World War II.

Among the comments there, we find this:

These are the graves of colonization forces of kufaar, (disbelievers) they had no place in libya when they were alive, and their dust or bones have none today either. They must be broken down completely, who do you disbelievers think you are to come and occupy our countries and then have graves in them? soon InshaaAllah the whole world will be under Islam.

Even though the above sentiment is a minority one among Muslims, it is always present in Muslim societies. Every religion will have its extremists, but the Muslim ones seem to have fewer qualms about using violence and destruction for their ends. In case anybody has forgotten, here are before and after photos of one of the Buddhas of Bamiyan, Afghanistan.

Lest anybody has forgotten, here are some before and after photos of one of the great Buddhas in Bamiyan, Afghanistan:

The Notre Dame in Paris took almost 200 years to construct. If current trends continue, it will share the fate of the Buddhas of Bamiyan and the WWII tombstones of Libya.

As sure as night follows day, if Europeans continue their current course, Europe’s cathedrals will be destroyed. Its treasures will be looted and its heritage will be put in jeopardy. Consider the plight of the Egyptian Copts. From Me Forum:

Most of us in the West have little knowledge of what life is like for Christians in the Muslim world. Take for example, the Coptic Christians, who were once the dominant religious group in Egypt. Previously the mainstay of their nation, Copts are now living as an oppressed minority, denied religious freedom and equal status in Egyptian life. The Copts are routinely denied meaningful employment and may not hold positions in the Egyptian Civil Service. Copts are refused permission to build new churches and even a request to renovate a church that is badly in need of repair can lead to an outbreak of severe Muslim violence against the Copts. Recently, there have even been calls for a return to collecting Jizya from the Copts, a tax that the Qur’an instructs Muslims to charge to all Dhimmis (non-Muslims) whenever Muslims are in power.

There is no reason to expect Europe’s non-Muslim minority to be treated any differently. By continuing to support pro-immigration politicians, Europeans are actually voting for their beautiful cathedrals to be destroyed, their cultural treasures to be looted and their daughters to be violated.

Working to prevent such a future does not make a person “racist” or “far-right” or an “extremist”. It makes him caring and wise, courageous and far-sighted. Those of us in America, witnessing the spectacle of Europe’s demise from afar, can only wonder and weep – and yes, we can also write. When will Europeans rise in large numbers to put an end to this insanity?

It’s not so much that the Muslims will destroy Europe’s art treasures, as that the Europeans will help them in the name of avant-garde culture. There is a strain of anti-Europeanism in much of current high culture. I and other opera fans are horrified by the so-called “Eurotrash” productions of great operas. The greats like Handel and Rossini are subjected to politicized interpretations. The current outrage can be seen at Arte Live Web–the great singers Scholl, Bartoli and others have participated in the desecration of Handel’s Giulio Cesare. The production, instead of taking place in ancient Egypt, is set in modern Iraq, with Julius Caesar as an American occupier. This is what’s going on in Europe. The cathedrals are next.

Yes, the European elite, in their quest to destroy the nation state, its racial, religious and cultural identity, find Muslims and other alien immigrant groups a useful tool. The goal, however, is not to promote Islam but to create a racially homogenized, culturally deracinated population more easily manipulated to serve the interests of the elite, i.e., to create a society that is the opposite of democratic.

The danger in this program is that some immigrant group could seize power as some Muslims clearly hope to do. I suspect, however, that most Islamic radicals in Europe are agent provocateurs intended to create a backlash against “religious extremism” among both the indigenous population and more moderate Muslim immigrants. The July 7 London Tube bombings, by whoever planned, served this purpose well.

Religion in Europe is to be reduced to the kind of vacuous banalities about spirituality mouthed by puppets of the plutocracy such as Tony Blair during his debate with Christopher Hitchens.

The desecration of European war graves in Libya probably has more to do with the recent US/Nato recolonization of the country than with Islam. The graves, after all, were unmolested for 60 years of post-war Libyan independence under an Islamic regime.

LIberalism is the ideology of Western suicide. James Burnham couldn’t have put it better.

White liberals would rather see themselves go extinct than be called the dread R or X word.

For now, engineering remains a refuge for white males, who still comprise three-quarters of the students. Of course, distribution requirements mean that they will be persecuted in the mandatory humanities and social science courses they are forced to take. But their revenge comes after graduation when they get good jobs.

“For now, engineering remains a refuge for white males, who still comprise three-quarters of the students.”

      I beg to differ.

      • Gay State Girl says:

East Asians and Indians make up at least 25% of the student body at exclusive engineering schools.

      • Yew Among You says:

Gay State Girl, you are not differing from Bob. He said White males comprise 3 quarters of the students, you said non-white people comprise 1 quarter.

Its 6 of one and a half dozen of the other.

Now, regarding the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan, my question is why are the Abrahamic faiths so dead set against religious iconography? It may be against their religions but its not against most other religions in the world. Those of us who use it in our worship are not forcing them to use it in their’s so they should just leave us and our idols alone.

I commend Egyptians that despite having converted to an Abrahamic faith, they still preserve the iconography of their ancient ancestors. Its just a shame that those ancient Egyptian religions are no longer practiced in that land.
