I was reading Fox news, it came up in my feed. It was a story Jennifer Rubin wrote. Last I remember (before Trump), Rubin was a Conservative. Now, she’s a Leftist. What will she be next week or next election? Who knows? Its not that she can’t make up her mind. Its that she was prior being disingenuous in her claimed identity. Like so many other of her Never Trump peer group, Rubin was a gatekeeper whose primary roles were to prevent the Right from going actually Right, to leave the door open for social Leftism, and to redirect any excess conservative grassroots energy toward her nationalist interests like support for Israel and Jews. Just like her now-Never Trump peer group has been doing for decades. Not that anyone should blame other Jews for that.
The scary part isn’t all of that, however. The scary part is that she was willing to permanently remove the mask. It likely won’t be able to be put back on even for a replacement in her general position as “token conservative” at the WaPo. Which tells me that she / they don’t see much of a general future. That’s the scary part of her behavior.
